The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to teach candidates the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare candidates to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries.
Successful completion requires participation in skills practice. The practice sessions will require some strenuous physical activity. You are encouraged to check with your health-care professional before participating in the practice sessions.
Participants must be 15 years old and pass a pre-requisite swim test: 300 yard swim demonstrating free-style (front crawl) or breaststroke, must complete a brick retrieval and 2 minutes treading water. Participants must be able to swim!
Attending all 5 class dates are mandatory and will take place at Splash Zone. The course fee is $175. Candidates who are hired and work at Splash Zone will be reimbursed 50%.
